Dusty Norberg was born on September 23, 1975 in La Mesa, CA. When he was six he received his grandfather’s drum set as a gift. After playing this along with books and anything else he could hit to make music, his parents bought him his own drum kit at age eight. He was exposed to music growing up which inspired him to form the band Fusebox at age 14. Throughout the ninties, Dusty collaborated with many musicians and drummed for several different local bands. In 2004, Dusty joined Manganista, who released two albums, opened for bands like The English Beat, The Aggrolites, Flock of Seagulls and many more. Manganista took second place in the San Diego Song Writers Guild contest in 2007. In a review by the late great Buddy Blue in the January 12, 2006 addition of the Union Tribune spoke of Dusty as being a drummer who, “…detonates layered polyrhythms that sound like he’s got four arms working at once.” In March of 2008, Dusty became the drummer for Holding Air Hostage. He can also be seen playing with The Sara Mesirow Band and Regina Leonard, Not to mention an occasional Fusebox show once in a blue moon.
